PUBLIC TALK: HOW TO SEEK (AND SECURE) FUNDING FOR A SHORT FILM?

Where can you find funding for your short film project? Producers will share both classic and alternative sources of financing, drawing on their own case studies and experiences.

SPEAKERS

Sabina Asadova

producer and documentary filmmaker, member of the European Documentary Network and the Ukrainian Film Academy, and co-founder of Salt Cinema. She studied Film at Kyiv National University and completed Sergei Bukovsky’s documentary workshop. Since 2015, she has worked in the Ukrainian film industry, including four years as production manager for Docudays UA, and recently joined Ukraїner as a project producer.

She has taken part in numerous international co-production programs and film markets across Europe, including CPH:DOX, DOK Leipzig, and Kraków Film Festival.

Viktor Shevchenko

producer and location manager, member of the European and Ukrainian Film Academies, and co-founder of the Ukrainian Location Managers Association. He holds an MA in Film Production Organization from Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television.

His producer credits include Time Tape (Berlinale 2025), Driving Lessons (PÖFF Shorts 2024), Second Breath (DocuDays UA 2023), and While It’s Quiet Here (Sarajevo IFF 2022).

He has also worked on acclaimed films such as Pamfir, Stop-Zemlia, My Thoughts Are Silent, The Price of Truth, La Palisiada, and Frost.

Lyuba Knorozok

is a producer at Kinotron Group and The Reckoning Project: Ukraine Testifies.

Her project at KISFF is the film “Prelude” directed by Alina Panasenko, featured in the Ukrainian Competition.

Lyuba is a co-creator, together with Roman Coppola, of the Ukrainian short film project competition “Full Short”.

Among her recent films are the documentaries by Oleksiy Radynskyi: “Special Operation” (world premiere at Berlinale 2025) and “Where Russia Ends” (world premiere at Krakow IFF 2024), as well as “Forever-Forever” by Anna Buriakova (world premiere at the Venice Film Festival 2023).
