How can one process traumatic experience and turn it into a film? Anastasia Falileieva, the director of I Died in Irpin, will talk about the work on the animated short that won the main award at KISFF last year. Altogether, the film has collected 17 prizes at international and Ukrainian festivals – including Clermont-Ferrand, Cinanima, Ottawa IAF, Bucheon IAF, LINOLEUM, and KINOKOLO. It has also qualified for submission to the 2026 Academy Awards and will compete in the category of Best Animated Film.

Anastasia Falileieva
is a Ukrainian animation director. She studied animation directing at Karpenko-Karyi University and explores themes of anxiety, abuse, war, and mental health in her work. Her film A Tiger Came at Night won awards at international festivals, while I Died in Irpin became a personal reflection on war trauma. She also created the series Take Care of Yourself and contributed to the popular animated series Patron the Dog. Her style combines experiment, symbolism, and a therapeutic dimension — both for the author and the audience.
